WEISSENAU - Great response to specialist training: around 100 interested people took part in the traditional winter conference of the Clinic for Neurology and Epileptology of the ZfP Südwürttemberg at the Weissenau site.
Around 100 participants came together at the Weissenau site for the specialist training programme to learn about current issues in the fields of epileptology, Parkinson's disease and pain treatment. In his welcoming speech, Regional Director Prof Dr Juan Valdés-Stauber gave an overview of the background and development of the training series. PD Dr Christian Tilz, Chief Physician of the Clinic for Neurology and Epileptology at the ZfP Südwürttemberg, then emphasised the importance of close cooperation with regional and national partners. This cooperation was also reflected in the composition of the programme and in the specialist diversity of the event.
The conference focussed in particular on epileptology, Parkinson's treatment, pain treatment and neuromuscular diseases. One focus was on innovative developments and current issues in modern neurology. For example, the possible applications of artificial intelligence in EEG diagnostics were discussed, as well as the specific additional benefits that digital procedures can already offer in everyday clinical practice.
Other presentations highlighted, for example, minimally invasive treatment options for epilepsy as well as special clinical pictures such as vascular epilepsy in old age, including current pathophysiological concepts and modern treatment strategies. Autonomic regulatory disorders in epilepsy patients were also discussed.
