Symposium on transition in epileptology

Prof. Dr Regina Trollmann is Head of the Department of Neuropaediatrics and the Social Medicine Centre at Erlangen University Hospital. In her presentation, she highlighted valuable points for a successful transition from a neuropaediatric perspective. Dr Thomas Mayer, Head Physician at the Kleinwachau Epilepsy Centre, highlighted key aspects for a successful transition from the perspective of adult epileptology.

PD Dr Christian Tilz, Head Physician at the Clinic for Neurology and Epileptology at the ZfP Südwürttemberg, used his experience to explain organisational issues and the course of treatment for patients from the transition consultation. Interest in the event was high among the audience from a wide range of specialist disciplines and professional groups, making it a valuable contribution to the exchange of experience in this field.

As Epilepsiezentrum Bodensee, the Department of Neurology and Epileptology at the NDT site in Weissenau offers all diagnostic and therapeutic options for modern epilepsy treatment in adulthood. Chief Physician Tilz and his team are particularly focussed on the further treatment of patients from childhood and adolescence in the context of transition.

Individual care structures are available for further treatment thanks to various outpatient services, from the Medical Care Centre (MVZ) to the outpatient clinics with authorisation and the Medical Centre for Adults with Disabilities (MZEB) operated in cooperation with the Liebenau Foundation.
