WEISSENAU - From epileptological topics to lectures on Parkinson's disease and pain therapy - the traditional winter conference of the Clinic for Neurology and Epileptology at the ZfP Südwürttemberg focused on a variety of topics.
The conference, which has been in existence for over 20 years and has been predominantly epileptological in content in recent years, has now also done justice to the new overall clinic for neurology and epileptology in terms of content, with lectures on the topics of Parkinson's and pain therapy - further focal points of the clinic - rounding off the range of topics.
After the opening by the Medical Director of the Ravensburg-Bodensee Clinic for Psychosomatics, Neurology and Psychiatry, Prof. Dr Juan Valdés-Stauber, the morning was characterised by lectures by top-class external speakers such as Prof. Dr Christian Günther Bien from the Bielefeld-Bethel Epilepsy Centre and Prof. Dr Bernhard Steinhoff from the Kehl-Kork Epilepsy Centre.
The transition to the in-house lectures was made by the new head physician of the Department of Neurology and Epileptology, Dr Christian Tilz, who spoke about current trends in neurostimulation for difficult-to-treat epilepsies. In the second part of the event, senior consultant Hassan Adnan Seklawi spoke about the possibilities and limitations of video EEG monitoring, while Dr Jan Raape, senior consultant at the clinic, spoke about invasive treatment options for Parkinson's disease. The topic of multimodal pain therapy was the focus of Dr Afef El Ouni's presentation.
The event met with great interest - around 70 participants came to Weissenau. The great response emphasised the importance of the clinic for networking with referring physicians in private practice and with other clinics.
