The first Weissenau Pain Day organised by the Department of Neurology and Epileptology took place at the Weissenau site on 14.03.2026. The scientific symposium with high-calibre speakers from various professional groups in pain medicine offered exciting presentations on the latest findings on diagnostics and therapy for the treatment of patients with chronic pain disorders. Head Physician of the Clinic for Neurology and Epileptology, PD Dr Christian Tilz, emphasised the necessity of an interdisciplinary therapeutic approach for this spectrum of illnesses. Subsequently, contributions on the latest treatment options for headaches, phantom pain and pain therapy in rheumatology from a neurological and orthopaedic perspective were highlighted. In the afternoon, Dr Jürgen Ruf spoke about the possibilities of pump therapies from an anaesthesiological perspective. Finally, the event was rounded off with a joint presentation on the biopsychosocial pain model by Dr Alexandra Nagl, Dr Afef El Ouni and Ms Mirijam Geiger-Riess, who, as in-house speakers, highlighted the interdisciplinary care options within the hospital. With almost 100 participants, the event was very popular with the audience.
